Johnson Home Improvements is a family-owned exterior contractor on Mount Savage Road outside Cumberland, Maryland. Since 1992 our own crews have installed and repaired seamless gutters, siding, metal and shingle roofs, ProVia windows and doors, and walk-in tubs and showers for homes and businesses from Allegany County, MD to Somerset County, PA.

Fascia carries the weight of your gutters, and once water gets into it the board rots and pulls away. We install and repair metal soffit and fascia so the whole roof edge stays tight.

Something needs fixing
Can you come out soon to look at it?
Often, yes. One customer called about gutter and fascia repairs and we were out that day to give a quote and back the next day to do the work. It depends on the season and the job, so call Carrie at (301) 724-8774 and she will tell you honestly when a crew can get there.
Do you repair gutters, or only put up new ones?
Both. We repair gutters, clean them out and inspect them, and we put up new seamless gutters when a repair isn't worth it. If leaves and sticks keep filling yours, ask about leaf guards while we're there.
Wind took some of my siding. Can you fix part of a wall?
Yes. We repair siding as well as replace it. When winds tore siding off a house in Frostburg, our crew removed the damaged pieces, wrapped the house to protect it and then replaced the siding. Call us before more water gets behind it.
My fascia board looks rotten. Is that a big deal?
It is worth looking at. The fascia carries your gutters, and once water gets into it the board can pull away and let moisture into the eave and roof edge. Caught early, it is usually a repair. We install and repair metal soffit and fascia.
Planning a project
What kind of gutters do you install?
K-style aluminum seamless gutters in 5-inch or 6-inch widths, formed to fit your house. A 6-inch gutter carries more water, which can matter on a big or steep roof. We can add leaf guards to either.
What makes a gutter seamless?
It is formed as one piece for each run of the house instead of being joined from short sections, so there are no seams along the run where it can leak. The only joints are at the corners and the downspouts.
Do you do metal roofs or shingle roofs?
Both, on homes and on commercial buildings. We install ProVia metal roofing and asphalt shingle roofs, and we handle the metal soffit and fascia that go with them.
What windows and doors do you sell?
ProVia replacement windows, including triple-pane options, and ProVia entry, patio and storm doors. We also install shutters.
How much do seamless gutters or a new roof cost?
It depends on the size of the house, the material and what has to come off first, so we don't publish prices. Every seamless gutter estimate is free. Call or send us the job and we will come measure.
Do you use subcontractors?
No. Our own team installs and repairs every job, so the people you meet are the people doing the work.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We hold Maryland Home Improvement Commission license 102572 and West Virginia contractor license WV049613. We are licensed, bonded and fully insured, and we are a certified lead-safe renovator.
How do I check a contractor's license in Maryland?
The Maryland Home Improvement Commission keeps a public license lookup on the Maryland Department of Labor's website. Search by the contractor's name or license number before you sign anything. Ours is MHIC 102572.
Walk-in tubs and showers
Can you put in a walk-in tub or shower?
Yes. We install walk-in bathtubs, walk-in showers and accessible bathing for people who want to stay safely in their own homes. We use BCI Acrylic and Luxury Bath Technologies products.
